The aim of the RAF Sailing Association (RAFSA) is to enable interested personnel to participate in enjoyment of sport of sailing through our Divisions which include; Dinghy Sailing, Windsurfing, Offshore Cruising and Inshore and Offshore Racing and Safety Boat / Powerboating.
RAFSA actively encourages all personnel across all ranks to learn and compete from complete novices to hosting Inter-Service competitions and even participating in world-renowned events when the opportunity arises!
Sailing is a fun way in which you can get into shape, and Y=you can sail at different levels and start off slowly and at a pace to suit you. Sailing truly is an excellent way to improve your health.
As you can imagine, one of the most significant benefits of sailing is how it can improve cardiovascular fitness. Sailing at any level will require physical exertion, and this will help to strengthen heart and lungs. Also due to the nature of the sport, you are required to use core muscles more, leading to improved stability and balance.
Sailing is also great for mental health. Being out on the water is a great way to reduce stress and anxiety, as well as improve your overall mood. Having this sense of freedom and serenity that comes with sailing can be incredibly therapeutic, making it one of the best ways to unwind and escape from the stresses of everyday life.

Our Offshore yachts are kept in Plymouth, Portsmouth and Ardrossan (Scotland), both the Dinghy and Windsurf are often found out on the water in Rutland and power-boats vital Safety Boat team attend many of the events across the divisions in various locations.
