RAF Model Aircraft

RAF Model Aircraft Association

The RAF Model Aircraft Association (RAFMAA) has been active since 1949, encouraging participation in Model Flying events at local, Inter-Service, national, and international levels.

Under the governance of the Directorate of RAF Sport, RAFMAA supports Service Personnel as they compete in their chosen Model Flying disciplines. This includes ensuring compliance with British Model Flying Association and CAA guidance to conduct competitions as safely as possible.

RAFMAA members are active in almost every form of competitive flying, from traditional disciplines such as Freeflight and Control Line to cutting-edge aspects like FPV Drone and Wing Racing. We hold our own Service-level events for members to attend and support our affiliated clubs at the unit level, fostering a strong and engaged community of model aircraft enthusiasts.

Membership is open to all current and former members of any Armed Forces, UK Reservists, and MOD civilians. Additionally, by invitation, civilians who are willing to further the objectives of the RAFMAA are welcome to join. This inclusive approach ensures a diverse and vibrant membership base, contributing to the growth and success of model flying within the RAF community.
