The RAF Basketball Association (RAFBBA) is managed by a committee of serving volunteers who work to promote basketball within the RAF. The committee is responsible for the development of the sport and the management of tournaments within the RAF, against other UK Services and overseas nations. Sport is an integral part of the RAF ethos, and the fulfilment of sporting expectations and activities of RAF personnel remains a significant retention and recruitment factor.
The RAFBBA consists of around 60 personnel of varying ability who enjoy playing basketball. The association is not only focused on representative levels, although it competes in the annual Inter-Service competition and provides players and coaches at the UK Armed Forced level, but also looks to ensure RAF personnel are able to play basketball and have the opportunity to develop to be the best they can be.
The fast paced, intense nature of the sport, coupled with the tactical nuance means that Basketball is a fantastic way to improve your fitness, enhance your communication skills and develop techniques to perform under constant pressure.
We hold annual recruitment and development camps for players and support the development and training of referees, table officials and coaches as well. We are always on the lookout for more support staff, whether you are a qualified coach, referee or want to assist in the running of the association, we would appreciate your support so please get in touch.
