RAF Athletics Association

The role of the RAF Athletics Association (RAFAA) is to promote and enable participation across our Service. The Association encompasses track and field, cross-country, road, ultra, mountain/fell running and tug-of-war, and reaches out to athletes, from novice to international standard, coaches, officials and all those who simply enjoy our sport.

Sport has always been central to Royal Air Force culture as a means of promoting physical and mental well-being, team building and morale. It engenders self-discipline and determination whilst keeping us fit and healthy. Even in times of continued high operational tempo, it is important that we continue make time for sport given the contribution it makes to operational fitness and Force Development.

Athletics has such a variety of activity, there is almost certainly going to be a sport for you. Whether you choose to take up the freedom of running or test your strength and agility with a discpline such as the javelin – the most important first step is to give it a go!
