RBL continue support for RAF Sport into second year

RBL Supporting RAF Sport

The RAF Central Fund is delighted to welcome the Royal British Legion (RBL) into their second year as a proud supporter of RAF Sport.

Further strengthening this partnership enables RBL to showcase their commitment to inclusivity and to enhance brand awareness amongst serving personnel.

In conjunction with supporting RAF Sport in a wider context, RBL will also provide direct assistance to seven Associations and athletes; RAF Athletics, RAF Cycling, RAF Hockey, RAF Rugby League, RAF Video Gaming & Esports, RAF Winter Sports Athlete Shona Brownlee and RAF Skeleton Athlete Nicole Burger.

Group Captain Steve Whitmore Chair of the RAF Athletics Association expressed his gratitude: “We are incredibly proud to continue our partnership with the Royal British Legion. Their enduring support to RAF Athletics has enabled our Service personnel to strive to reach their athletic goals and improve their physical health and mental wellbeing. The RBL will continue to be a valued partner to those who serve and a critical supporter to our veteran community.”

CEO of the RAF Central Fund, Ross Perriam said: “RBL’s long term commitment to RAF Sport goes a long way towards enabling even more RAF personnel to participate in and enjoy a wide range of sports and physical activities.

Thanks to funding provided by RBL, additional sporting kit and equipment required by participants and coaches will be purchased. Furthermore, overseas visits to play international teams and opportunities to learn from the local environment are all made possible thanks to sponsorship such as this.

RBL help serving and ex-serving personnel live fulfilling lives through a wide range of support and services, so we are delighted that this two-way relationship helps strengthen awareness of their organisation across the service whilst benefiting RAF Sport.”

Megan Woodhouse, Armed Forces Engagement Officer, said:
“We are dedicated to making the Royal British Legion relevant to the current serving community, ensuring they know they have our support from day one of their service, throughout their careers, and into life beyond the forces.

The Armed Forces Engagement team is a small group of ex-service personnel who are deeply passionate about advocating for the serving community.

We believe sport plays a vital role in promoting mental and physical wellbeing, fostering unity, and building camaraderie. By sponsoring military sport and supporting personnel to reach their full potential, we aim to help individuals truly thrive both in their careers and in their wider lives.”

The RAF Central Fund is a charity which supports 54 sports associations and over 14,000 service personnel in developing their full potential through sport and physical activities.
