Job title: Operations Assistant
Location: Hybrid – working from home with occasional travel to the Fund’s offices in Buckinghamshire and various RAF Stations
Hours: Full time (37.5 hours) or part time (minimum 30 hours per week), Monday to Friday
Salary: £25,000 full time salary plus benefits (30 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays, contributable pension, death in service benefit, private health insurance and other health & wellbeing benefits)
About the RAF Central Fund:
We support the RAF through our grants, programmes, partnerships and properties to ensure personnel can access sports and physical activities at all levels. We deliver integral support to military personnel, RAF Stations and RAF Sport Associations – ultimately, we think everyone, regardless of their role, rank, physical ability or competing level, should have access to sports facilities, equipment and training.
About the role:
We are looking for an organised and adaptable individual to support the Fund’s Operations department to provide effective and proactive support. Our charity and our team are evolving, we are looking for an individual who will assist with a broad area of business requirements, some routine and some adhoc. The selected candidate will enjoy a hybrid working environment, based at home with occasional visits to the Fund’s office near Marlow, Buckinghamshire and RAF Stations as required.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Ensure a positive impression of the Fund is always provided, liaising with beneficiaries and stakeholders virtually and in person
- Support the organisation of events, business travel and accommodation
- Assist with the Fund’s provision of governance and administrative services to RAF Sport, monitoring and actioning regulatory changes and requirements and providing guidance
- Support with the management of the Fund’s estate, including bookings, supplier coordination and health and safety compliance, to ensure the charity can optimise use
- Communicate the benefits and attend events to promote the charity and its primary fundraiser, the RAF Sports Lottery
- Support with the weekly RAF Sports Lottery draws, confirming lottery wins, monitoring and reviewing draw data and collating lottery winners stories
- Assist with the Fund’s ESG objectives, helping to drive campaigns and identifying opportunities
- Assist with the delivery of the Fund’s IT; monitoring support, considering development requirements and opportunities and maintaining the Fund’s IT infrastructure including its CRM systems
- Ensure compliance of the Fund’s personal data processing and retention, providing training and guidance to staff and volunteers and managing the deletion and archiving of records as required
- Carry out reviews of the Fund’s policies and procedures to ensure they remain effective and are applied as required. Support with training
This role profile is not exhaustive and is subject to review in conjunction with the post holder according to future developments in the charity.

Knowledge, experience and skills:
- Experience of working in a small team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Organised with good attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hybrid setting
- A problem-solving approach to tasks and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Experience with IT support requirements and maintaining CRMs preferred
- Knowledge in various areas such as health and safety, data protection and the charity sector preferred
- Experience of building and maintaining solid relationships internally and externally
- Full UK driving licence
