An inter-Station virtual challenge to race against the RAF’s Atlantic Flyers as they compete in this year’s Talisker Challenge, a 3,000 mile trans-Atlantic offshore rowing race from La Gomera to Antigua. Join your Station team to put in as many miles as you can on either an ergo (indoor rowing machine) or on the water. A challenge tracker will show your team’s progress against the other Stations taking part as well as the guys doing it for real. Race starts on 12 December 2021 and every competitor will receive an exclusive Atlantic Flyers Challenge medal for participating.

On 12 December 2021, four RAF pilots will be setting off from the Canary Islands on board their offshore rowing boat to compete in the 3,000 mile Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. Whist the Atlantic Flyers will be taking on up to 40-foot waves, 35-knots of wind and 40-degree heat during the event, participants in our virtual challenge will have the advantage of being able to put in the miles indoors, on a level surface and without the wind and high temperatures to contend with – unless of course you are a rower and wish to put in the miles on the water! Despite not facing the same conditions as the Talisker challengers, ours will still be a tough race and what’s more, you’ll be competing against the other Stations who will all be vying to cross the finish line in Antigua first.

Taking part is easy, simply select which Station you want to race for from the dropdown menu and add your place to the basket. Once you have purchased your race entry then you will be asked to create an account through which you can then log your mileage – proof of which can be provided by uploading a photo of your ergo reading or if competing on the water through a screenshot of your Strava reading (or another similar distance tracker). Once the race has started there is a live leaderboard and a map to track your Station’s progress and we’ll also be regularly updating the position of the Atlantic Flyers for a direct comparison.
