Hours: Full time (37.5 hours) or part time – (minimum 30 hours), Monday to Friday
Salary: £28,000 plus benefits including a generous annual leave allowance
About the RAF Central Fund:
We support the RAF through our grants, programmes, partnerships and properties to ensure personnel can access sports and physical activities at all levels. We deliver integral support and services to military personnel, RAF Stations and RAF Sport Associations – ultimately, we think everyone, regardless of their role, rank, physical ability or competing level, should have access to sports facilities, equipment and training.
About the role:
Our charity is evolving, and we are looking for an organised and efficient individual to support the Fund’s Finance department over the next 12 months. The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail and accuracy plus experience with accounts payable and reconciliations.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensure the accurate input and maintenance of the financial records on our finance software
- Provide financial administrative support including the processing of receipts, payments and expenses including the preliminary review of authorisation of expenditure by budget holders
- Support the administration of the bank account and processing of bank payments
- Act as a point of contact for account or payment queries from RAF Sports Associations, suppliers, grant recipients or other third parties as required
- Support with the input of journal entries and reconcile prepayment, accrual and deferred accounts
- Assist with the reconciliation, on a monthly basis, of trade debtors and creditors
- Ensure compliance with the Fund’s policies and procedures in all aspects of work
- Undertake other duties as may be reasonably required in support of the Fund’s objectives as required and any other duties as may be identified by the Finance Manager and Head of Finance
This role profile is not exhaustive and is subject to review in conjunction with the post holder according to future developments in the charity.

Essential knowledge, experience and skills:
- IT proficient and experience in the use of multiple software platforms including Sage
- Experience in accounts payable
- Well organised, efficient and accurate
- Able to maintain confidentiality and deal with sensitive information
- Ability to manage a varied workload against deadlines and agreed timetables
- Ability to maintain controls within the organisation to ensure financial probity
